Action Steps Please review the following lead opportunity in consideration of hosting the 2030 Annual Convention and Exposition in Minneapolis over the dates of October 27-30, 2030.
 
This is the second of two citywide conventions with APHA requiring 5,000 peak rooms within a 10 block radius from the convention center!  To make it easy, please duplicate your response to the 2024 convention for this convention.
 
Rates are to be quoted  in confirmed 2016 terms with a modest escalator of no more than 3%;  commissionable at 10% to APHA's housing service (currently J.Spargo), and inclusive of a $10.00 rebate per revenue producing room and credited to the room block both inside and outside the block to offset Minneapolis Convention Center rental.  See Section 8.2 of the RFP to review the Hotel Requirements.  It is understood that by accepting this lead, the rates quoted above are inclusive of commission, housing fees, and any rebates that are outlined in these action steps.
 
For geographic market lead assignment, APHA is headquartered in Washington, DC and is a health and medical association.
  
Please do not contact the client at this time as we will be coordinating all hotel responses in conjunction with Minneapolis Convention Center availability.


Event Profile The APHA Annual Meeting & Exposition is the oldest and largest gathering of public health professionals in the world, attracting more than 12,500 national and international physicians, administrators, nurses, educators, researchers, epidemiologists, and related health specialists.  APHA’s meeting program addresses current and emerging health science, policy, and practice issues in an effort to prevent disease and promote health. The first APHA Annual Meeting was held in 1873 in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Meeting Requirements All meeting space will be located between the MCC and the HQ hotel
Food & Beverage Requirements All F&B functions will be located between the MCC and the HQ hotel.  Estimated $430,000 in F&B expenditures.

  • APHA is committed to supporting sustainable practices
  • APHA will consider a multi-year contract with Minneapolis (2024 and 2030) so the hospitality community and Meet Minneapolis should be prepared to present great concessions to win a multi-year contract! - WE WON BOTH!!!
Concessions Please note, no concession requests were specifically requested beyone the 10% commission and $10 per room night rebate.  With the potential to win a multi-year contract, please be aggressive in what you can offer to make the Minneapolis the most attractive it can be.
Respond By Date Please complete the Room Block Commitment (RBC) within iDSS by 12-noon on Tuesday, January 26, 2016.  Please duplicate your quoted room block and rate from your 2024 proposal.
